The country of Philippines is in the Asia continent and the latitude and longitude for the country are 11.8728° N, 122.8613° E.
Located in the continent of Asia, Philippines covers 298,170 square kilometers of land and 1,830 square kilometers of water, making it the 73rd largest nation in the world with a total area of 300,000 square kilometers.
Positioned on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean, along the Ring of Fire, the Philippines is the second-largest archipelago in the world, with over 7,100 individual islands counted within its borders. The Philippines became an independent state in 1946.
The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago of 7,107 islands lying on the western rim of the Pacific Ocean and north of the equator.
The northern part of the country is separated from Taiwan by the Bashi Channel. It is bounded on the east by the Philippine Sea, on the south by the Celebes Sea, and on the west by the South China Sea.
It is approximately 6,290 kilometers away from Australia or, in terms of travel time, seven hours by plane from Sydney to Manila, the capital city of the Philippines.
The total land area is about 298,170 square kilometers (114,830 square miles).
