How to Get Rid of Thread Veins on the Face

By Irving Oala, eHow Contributor

Thread veins, which are similar to varicose veins that occur in the hands and legs, will sometimes appear in the face and give someone an unsightly appearance. These veins, caused by bad circulation, heredity, exposure to the sun, aging and hormonal imbalances, have been damaged enough to be broken. Once these veins appear, not all vanity is lost. You can do a number of things to help remedy these veins and either make them go away entirely or lessen their prominence on the skin.

Things You'll Need

  • Vitamin C & E supplements, creams
  • Fiber foods
  • Doctor checkup

    Instructions

      • 1
Go to a doctor for a checkup to test your blood pressure and make sure these thread veins are not a sign of a larger medical problem. Ask him if these thread veins are natural at your age and hear what he has to say before proceeding.

Take vitamin C and E supplements to help improve your body's circulation. Certain creams also have concentrations of vitamins C and E that you can rub into the skin.
      • 3
Massage the thread veins in your face once or twice daily. This will help to improve the circulation of blood in your face and alleviate some of these thread veins beneath the surface of the skin. Apply sunscreen while doing this and rub it in to protect the skin and the thread veins from the sun. You can also massage with vitamin C and E moisturizers.

Change your diet. Begin eating more foods that are high in fiber and low in sodium. This will help to alleviate the thread veins you already have and to avoid forming new ones.
